Men aren't usually the ones that go to the nail salon to get a pedicure. But keeping your feet healthy is important. Men usually do the tough jobs and will often wear things that may be contributing to their feet deteriorating in ways where their feet starts to get discolored, cracked skin, corns, and one of the worst things, fungal nail along their toenails.
People (and especially women) pay attention to your feet. Do you really want to be ridiculed for having ugly feet that looks like a dinosaur or a crocodile? People will find anything to chip away at your confidence and status as a man. You can't give them the ammunition to attack you in any way.
If you can have beautiful looking feet that are healthy, than that is great! But if not, you should consider practicing a treatment regime that will keep your feet feeling and looking healthy, and remove and reduce the risk of fungal nail that will affect your feet.
What are some things that you can do to improve the health of your feet?
Give your feet a minimum of 5 minutes worth of sunshine per day.
In the video below, this foot doctor explains how the fungus that lives on your feet doesn't like sunlight.
The issue is that most of us keep our feet enclosed, so the fungus thrives, spreads, and grows.
Wear open sandals or shoes, or even go barefeet outside and let the sun shine on your feet.
Over the coming weeks, you should start to see your feet clear up from the aggressive attacks of the fungus that's on your feet.
Wear open footwear as much as possible.
Your feet need to breathe. And this isn't easy for everyone to do depending on their circumstances. But avoid wearing socks and try to wear open footwear to let the air access your feet.
If you work at a job and you have to wear footwear for several hours a day, consider investing in footwear that will allow your feet to breathe more. These may be trainer or running shoes, or open casual footwear that you can slide into whist you are at the office.
Never wear socks more than twice in a row.
Always wear fresh socks. Don't even think twice about recycling or minimizing the washing. And have several pairs of socks that are breathable. Make sure you rotate them. And was them extremely well to make sure the fungus doesn't remain in your socks.
Most likely, you will need to replace your socks fairly frequently.
If you sleep in socks or like wearing them around all day, stop it. Let your feet breathe. If you suffer from cold feet, try heating them naturally (like with sunshine) so that you minimize the risk of the fungus growing on your feet.
Wash your feet regularly...and well!
If you haven't been doing this, start doing it now. Don't be out all day with sweaty feet that hasn't had access to natural sunlight and being able to breathe. Hit the shower, wash your body well including your feet. Dry them well, and let them breathe.
Beware of where you walk in barefeet.
Err on the side of caution when you go to places such as the gym showers. Foot fungus is usually easily transferred through the floor and the showers. And easy solution is to carry and wear your own set of sandles to avoid making direct contact with the floor.
Rotate your footwear frequently.
Foot fungus tends to live within your footwear. Especially if it is old and has collected the fungus and sweat over the years. So instead of relying on one shoe, aim to have several that you can rotate to keep your feet healthy. Consider wearing different shoes for every day of the week.
Apply toenail fungal treatments.
There are different creams that you can get on the market such as Lamsil. You can apply this type of cream for 7 days, which should reduce the fungus on your feet. You won't be able to completely eliminate the fungus on your feet, but you will be able to treat it so that it doesn't overpower your feet and destroy your toenails.
Making sure your feet look pretty and presentable (yes, beautiful-looking feet!)
Cut your nails regularly.
Cut them so they look nicely presented.
File your nails so they look smooth.
As it says, buy a filer and make sure they are rounded nicely.
If you don't want to do these yourself, go down the road and get a pedicure.
Will all of this make a difference?
Remember, first impressions matter. And you always want to be ready for any occasion that may happen.
